Renaissance: Stories of Resurgence and Renewal

And, we’re back. After the longest year in lockdown, we’re beyond thrilled to be back with an electric live show featuring seven original stories on the theme of resurgence and renewal. Second acts and second chances. Revivals and resurrections. The only constant is change, so this May we invited our performers to share the ways they’ve shed old skin and started anew.

Team 20s: Camryn Bruno is a 22-year-old spoken word poet, author, and Curator at the Bowery Poetry Club. She has performed at the Brooklyn Library, The Apollo, The UN, The Public Theater, The Intrepid, The Apple Store, and many more. Her poems explore women’s issues, social justice, and community building and strive to help Black women's independence everywhere.

Team 30s: Erica Anderson is writer and producer who works across mediums to introduce groundbreaking narratives. Formerly at Twitter, she's worked on global issues of misinformation at Google, and as Executive Producer for Kara Swisher. She co-organized the historic 2018 Google Walkout where 20,000 employees walked out on the job to protest sexual harassment. She is also an entrepreneur, and co-founded a scent studio called THE NEW SAVANT.

Team 40s: Nhu An Do is a Moth StorySLAM winning storyteller. She has a solo show, You Sing Terrible! about the hilariously dark journey of finding her voice through plastic surgery, addiction, and music. She is also a singer-songwriter and has a debut album called Shangri-la.

Team 50s: Beth Lisick is a writer and actor. She is the author of six books, including the New York Times-bestselling comic memoir Everybody into the Pool, and most recently the novel Edie on the Green Screen. She has also worked as a promotional banana mascot, a baker, and an aide to people with developmental disabilities and dementia.

Team 60s: Sandi Marx is a retired talent agent who is now a fixture on the New York storytelling scene. She is a seven-time Moth StorySLAM champion and she’s been featured on PBS’s Stories For The Stage, Women of Letters, and at the Women’s Comedy Festival in Boston. Sandi debuted her show The Shit Show at Joe’s Pub which will be part of her upcoming documentary, The Fabulist.

Team 70s: Patty Otis Abel is a marketing professional and writer. She began writing about women while living in Paris, working with Isabella Rossellini, and profiling Erica Jong, Camille Paglia, and more. Her blog, The Male Harem, explores sex and relationships. She is presently working on a bio-memoir about a Frenchwoman writer of erotica.
