Maybe you’ve performed at a live (or virtual) storytelling show or have had a personal essay published online or in print. You’re not brand new but you’re keen to keep learning and getting higher level feedback that will continue to push you.

Either way, The Storyteller Group will meet you at where you’re at.

The Storyteller Group is designed for emerging & mid-level writers.

How it works.

The Storyteller Group meets once a month via Zoom, 6pm - 8pmET. Members vote on dates to ensure they can make each session.

Members will have the chance to workshop a 1,200 piece twice a year. Your piece can be a story intended to be told live or a personal essay intended for publication. Workshopping writers will be invited to submit their pieces to the Group two weeks before our class, and have the chnace to read the story n class, prior to the workshop. In class, you’ll receive written and verbal feedback on your work. Feedback is based on your unique goals and is designed to be practical, encouraging, and easy to implement. Max. three workshops per meet-up. While students’ workshops are the priority, meet-ups will also feature craft lectures, industry Q+As, or anything Georgia perceives to be helpful to the Group, based on the Group needs and goals.

A typical class might feature 1) writer check-ins (each writer checks in on their own progress in their writing life, reflecting on the goals they set in the last class 2) 2 - 3 workshops 3) a craft lecture on showing not telling 4) goal-setting for the month.

There will also be a private dedicated Slack channel where writers can chat online in between classes. Georgia will participate in the Slack. Slack is a free, easy-to-use messaging platform for business that combines the functionality of email and text.

The group will be capped at twelve. The groups are open to all gender identities (male, female, non-binary.)

The Storyteller Group is designed as a quarterly engagement. Each quarter is 3 months, with four quarters per calendar year. Members may cancel at the end of each quarter or choose to renew. The Group has no end date.

The membership fee is $150 per month. That’s $450 per quarter. Membership fees are due each quarter (payment due every 3 months). Writers who pay for the full year in advance receive one month free. Payment is via Venmo, Zelle, or bank transfer.

When you just can’t put your own finger on what will fix a piece that needs work, Georgia nails it with a supportive assessment of the problem and ways to fix it. Georgia’s kick-off overview of the closely related, but differing, crafts of storytelling and personal essay was super-motivating and clear.  It helps writers in her class see the way forward and get excited about taking that path.”
