Theme: Meet-Cute: Stories of Falling in Love

It’s finally Spring! Celebrate the new season by hearing tales of new love from our line-up of multigenerational performers. Maybe they’ll share a meet-cute story of falling in love with a friend, or hobby, or slice of gooey New York pizza. Whatever they care to share, we promise a night of stories that are authentic, hopeful, maybe a little bit swoony. Celebrate love in all forms with us this month at Joe’s Pub as we present Meet-Cute: Stories of Falling in Love.

Team 20s: Ayla Zuraw-Friedland is a queer literary agent and sometimes-writer whose work has appeared or is forthcoming in GAY the Magazine and The Cape Cod Poetry Review. She lives in Brooklyn with her two cats, Cleocatra and Motor.

Team 30s: Hala Maroc is an artist, wellness advocate, serial entrepreneur, and overall multi-media powerhouse. She created #ontheblockwithhalamaroc, a digital marketing agency serving creatives on the rise, and recently opened up her first brick and mortar, Badass Bootcamp Wellness Market. Her new single “Do Bad” is out now.

Team 40s: Kathleen McKitty Harris is a fifth-generation native New Yorker whose work has appeared in Longreads, Creative Nonfiction, and The Rumpus, among others. She has also performed on The Moth podcast, and hosts the What’s Your Story? live-reading series in northern New Jersey.

Team 50s: Crystal D. Mayo is a published writer, actress, educator and native New Yorker whose writing repertoire spans memoirs to poetry to short stories. Her lyrical prose “The Center of My Universe” is now featured on the Storyteller Co-Op podcast.

Team 60s: Kate Mellina is a former gallery owner and newspaper columnist, who nearly got herself killed several times as an anti-corruption advocate and city councilwoman in Asbury Park, NJ. She has performed in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and is a member of the Philadelphia Dumpster Divers found-object art group.

Team 70s: Patty Otis Abel is a marketing professional and writer. She began writing about women while living in Paris, working with Isabella Rossellini, and profiling Erica Jong, Camille Paglia, and more. Her blog, The Male Harem, explores sex and relationships. She is presently working on a bio-memoir about a Frenchwoman writer of erotica.
